Do-jime (胴絞), the trunk squeeze. Shime-waza (strangles). Required for: 4th Dan (black belt, British Judo Association); 5th Dan (black belt, British Judo Association). Also known as: body scissors (english). About ----- Squeezing the opponent's trunk between the legs, ankles crossed around the body. Judo classifies it among the strangles but bans it outright: compressing the trunk this way can injure ribs and organs, and it wins nothing. Documented for recognition only. Key points ---------- 1. Recognise it: legs wrapped around the trunk with the ankles crossed, squeezing 2. Prohibited in competition and in randori alike 3. If you feel it applied in practice, tap at once and say so; it should simply not be used VI judo notes ------------- Recognition only, and worth knowing by feel: the pressure comes around your ribs from legs crossed behind your back, not at a joint or the neck, and it does not build the way a legal technique does. Tap and tell your coach. Nobody should be applying this to anyone.
